Written Spring 2012
By Lauren Painter
Endless, day after day
The seconds flash, the minutes inch
It heals all wounds, but reopens them
It heals all wounds, but reopens them
Never ceasing, never ending
Cannot be controlled, cannot be altered
No matter how hard it is, no matter how much it hurts
There is no taking back, no re-dos
Staring in the distance, gazing in the past
Wake up upset, fall asleep alone
Passing through the present, reflecting on the marks
The clocks rule life, slowly slipping by
Nothing brings happiness, everything churns memories
It pretends to be a friend, but it is the enemy
The hands won’t wait, the minutes keep ticking
tick
tick
tick
Time is an evil concept.
